Trump believes Ukraine and Russia are ready for an agreement, but Kyiv disagrees
In Washington, it is believed that Ukraine and Russia have reached a stage where they are ready to sign a peace agreement. However, Ukrainian negotiators do not share this assessment. The American president optimistically assessed the prospects for peace talks and stated that both sides are allegedly ready to negotiate. "I think they're both at the stage where they're saying, 'Let's make a deal,'" Trump said. Ukrainian representatives do not agree with these conclusions. The publication does not provide details on how Kyiv assesses the state of the negotiations.
Russia no longer believes in Trump's peace plan and is preparing to intensify strikes - Bloomberg
The Kremlin no longer believes that US President Donald Trump can force Ukraine to sign a peace agreement on Russian terms. Therefore, Moscow plans to intensify its attacks and is preparing for a prolonged war. According to informed sources, if Trump's position in the US weakens after the midterm elections, it will significantly impact the course of the war. Moscow will seek ways to lift American sanctions, trying to convince Trump that it is possible to do business without waiting for the end of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, it is unlikely that Trump will more actively support Kyiv and Europe if the Republican Party loses to the Democrats in the congressional elections. "He may have less room for maneuver to force Zelensky to sign an agreement, and this, in turn, may give Putin a free hand to intensify attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure," the sources note.
The US is ordering over 1,000 new ERAM cruise missiles for Ukraine - media
The US Air Force is looking for contractors to produce new ERAM cruise missiles intended for Ukraine. The missile must fly over 460 km and hit its target even in the presence of electronic warfare. ERAM (Extended Range Attack Munition) is a small air-based cruise missile designed for mass production. The US Air Force describes it as an affordable weapon for high-precision strikes against important stationary targets from a safe distance. In the request to manufacturers, the Air Force outlined technical requirements. The missile must be in the 500-pound (approximately 227 kg) class and cover more than 250 nautical miles, or over 460 km. The speed should not exceed 0.6 Mach. The deviation from the target should not exceed 10 meters, even if the enemy jams GPS. In addition to its high-explosive fragmentation effect, ERAM should be able to partially penetrate interference when striking. Companies must submit their proposals by November 19. The delivery requirements are strict: the first missiles must be delivered no later than three months after the contract is signed. In total, the order is for over 1,000 missiles, and the entire batch must be delivered within 15 months.
First results of the US elections: Democrats are ahead in key races
In the US congressional midterm elections, Democrats have taken seats in the Senate from North and South Carolina from the Republicans. Additionally, according to forecasts, they are regaining their majority in the House of Representatives. Currently, Republicans have 53 seats in the Senate versus 47 for the Democrats. To gain a majority, Democrats need to take four seats outright and not lose any of their own. They have already completed half of this journey.
Trump acknowledges midterm election results and promises to work with Democrats
Republicans would have won the congressional midterm elections with a landslide if Trump's name had been on the ballot. The president made this statement against the backdrop of the Democrats' initial successes. "I wasn't on the ballot, but if I were, we would have won with a landslide!" Trump wrote. At the same time, the White House is taking a tough stance. An administration official commented to Bloomberg's Jeff Mason that Democratic voters will regret their choice when fuel prices drop quickly after the conflict with Iran is resolved. "Regardless of how today ends, President Trump's determination to stop the radical left will only be strengthened. Buckle up," he added.
